The air’s so full of oxygen. It can’t breathe. You won't mind the rainbows. The chrysanthemums, the huge magnolias. As I write this. An arc of melon-colored light. Goes up and up without break. A small ant climbs the stairs with all his weight. Red telephone in the hall. Hooks itself up to the wall. And hums like a lonely man, counting the drops of chlorophyll. There are dandelions in the streets. Do birds get sad or do bats beat their heads against the trees?
